John T. Kenney, 1917, First World War.
Enlisted in Newburgh, NY at age 15,
and was killed at the age of 16.
The Post in the Community:
Veterans Jerry Zemantauski, left and Bob McVeight presents Brig. Gen Verle Johnson of the 105th Airlift Wing with a donation for its Family Readiness Support Group.
Members of the City of Newburgh’s VFW Post 973 donated $1,000.00 to the Airlift Wing’s family readiness Program recently to its commanding officer, Brig. Gen. Verle Johnson Jr. Making the presentation were Jerry Zemantauski quartermaster, and Bob McVeigh the VFW’s Sr. Vice Commander.
In accepting the generous donation, Johnson said”Many of our units members are depoyed, and our family readiness Support Group in assisting them and their families. It is truly an honor to see our veterans from the VFW standing tall in support of our younger veterans.

The Newburgh VFW Post 973 recently donated $1,000.00 to the Castle Point food pantry for needy veterans.
